Firstly, thank you for taking the time to check out what we plan to do in your local community, we truly value local engagement as the more ideas and perspectives we have the better the outcome can be. Afterall, we are all friends of the Medlock Valley!
As you may have seen on our super stylish poster, we want this new garden to bring a different vibe to the valley. Showcasing species not typical to Ancoats/ Beswick, we want an obvious curb-side appeal with mature olive and citrus trees lined by bright purple lavender and other high fragrance botanicals.
Occurring on the old site of Christ Church, in and around the roundhouse walls, we intend to celebrate its rich history spanning religion, vegetarianism, charity, academia and famous art. Below is a link to a site which briefly showcases our location, so make sure to have a look!
These Mediterranean species whilst beautiful, are also a subtle nod to our changing climate. As we all experienced, extreme heat is becoming a normal part of summer in the UK, with urban areas suffering the most. Whilst this new garden is not us giving up on the climate crisis, it is to safeguard this historical landscape from the ever-encroaching Manchester skyline, with species guaranteed to endure future climate scenarios. This will ensure green space accessibility and reliable shade for years to come.
Therefore, we invite you to join us on this mission. Request the WhatsApp group on the QR code to keep up to date with the progress and know when to join in with hands on events to help build this future destination with us.
